I received a lovely beating last night with paddles, floggers, crops, and even some spankings. I was tied face down to the bed, spread eagle, with cuffs on my wrists and ankles so I wouldn't wiggle or move too much.... you know, for my own safety of course.
It was the first beating in a long while from my Daddy Dom so he purposefully didn't go too long or hard, which also meant I didn't go into subspace... at least not the kind of subspace I'm used to. In fact I'd be surprised if I did! We ended up going to bed a little after midnight, and I woke up completely alert around 4:30am. Obviously this led to me thinking...
When I drink a little too much before I go to bed, I get very little sleep and just end up waking super early on my own. According to studies, alcohol can interfere with regular sleep patterns, which is ultimately why one often wakes up after just a few hours of sleep... yada yada yada.* Well, it's summer vacation and I've been getting anywhere from 7-9 hours of sleep every night without setting an alarm and being able to wake up whenever I wake up. So why am I awake and alert right now? It made me start to wonder if there is some sort of similar "chemical reaction" that occurs in the brain after a beating. I'm not talking subspace because I didn't go through my regular symptoms. I'm talking about a beating hangover.
Has anyone ever experienced this or know of a partner or friend who experienced this? Have you ever noticed your body (or a partner's body) reacting differently, even subtly, the morning after a beating that didn't lead to subspace? In the BDSM community, we talk a lot about subspace, but I'm curious if there is another lighter level one's body shows symptoms to that perhaps we haven't discovered or noticed yet. Thoughts?
