You know, even a "Like" can be a huge ego boost, and that only takes clicking a goddamn button ...
I've only posted one story here, but I've posted others elsewhere.  There is nothing that makes an author feel worse than crickets.  I would even prefer being told my story is total shit than to have it completely ignored.  Some stories take weeks to develop, for writer's block to be overcome, and for editing and re-editing into the final product we envision.  After all that, not a single "like", comment or 'shove this dreck up your ass'.  It discourages further effort, at least it does for me.  Why should I waste time sharing my vision with others if it's going to amount to nothing more than a silent "meh" from the reader?

@DickBiggers As a writer, I identify! We've tried to optimise RC to attract as many rape fantasists/ BDSMers as possible, but though it's a rather large community, only a fraction will work out that the fetish they seek even is rape fantasy/bdsm. All rape fantasy communities that I've witnessed over *cough* years have been small, largely populated by the same groups who hit up all the current rape fantasy sites to increase their odds of finding others like them. It's unfortunate the communities are so disparate and discrete, because niche fetishes like this need exposure so they're de-stigmatised and all those '50 Shades of Shite' sorts find each other regardless of degree.

If you're seeking public acclaim, write shite like 50 Shades. It will mollify the greatest slice of the population.

If you're daft enough to be seeking to create art, then aim for the extremes. You'll find a smaller but equally rewarding fringe.

I fear I've lost the plot, but you're clever enough to know wot this blather means, right ??

Well, I guess one should write for oneself first and foremost, so the finished product should bring it's own satisfaction.  But we all have a little "Did you like it?  Did you?  Huh?!!!" in us.  I remember the first song I learned on the guitar.  I don't even recall...some John Denver piece of shit, something like that.  But I couldn't wait to play it for my mom.  Halfway through, she started talking to my sister about something she needed for school the next day.  I just stopped playing and went upstairs.  I didn't play for a few weeks after that.  Now, the logical brain says "Fuck her!", but the emotional brain says "I suck, and nobody cares about my shitty strumming."  After that, I was super self-conscious about jamming with friends because I had already convinced myself I sucked.

I don't know.  I guess the point is...I don't need a parade, but a "Hey! Cool story, bro!" wouldn't ruin my day, either.

I appreciate comments, particularly detailed or specific comments. Detailed or specific comments tell me what worked, what didn't. I have a kind of feel for certain things but I'm not sure the reader gets that feel. I'm trying to write with a voice - to write in-character. Without some kind of flavoring or styling, (voice), it's just he-tied-pretty-lady-and-had-sex-with-pretty-lady-the-end. Ugh.

But since voice and "feel" are subjective, some feedback is helpful to tune the voice and the atmosphere.

This morning I had an epiphany.

Yes, authors do enjoy receiving comments.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. Fap if you appreciate the 5-second entertainment value.
