Title: Wtf? A long list of sex acts just got banned in UK porn

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/a-long-list-of-sex-acts-just-got-banned-in-uk-porn-9897174.html

Pornography produced in the UK was quietly censored today through an amendment to the 2003 Communications Act, and the measures appear to take aim at female pleasure.

The Audiovisual Media Services Regulations 2014 requires that video-on-demand (VoD) online porn now adhere to the same guidelines laid out for DVD sex shop-type porn by the British Board of Film Censors (BBFC).

Seemingly arbitrarily deciding what is nice sex and what is not nice sex, the board has banned the following acts from being depicted by British pornography producers:

The final three listed fall under acts the BBFC views as potentially "life-endangering".

While the measures won't stop people from watching whatever genre of porn they desire, as video shot abroad can still be viewed, they do impose severe restrictions on content created in the UK, and appear to make no distinction between consensual and non-consensual practices between adults.

"There appear to be no rational explanations for most of the R18 rules," Jerry Barnett of the anti-censorship group Sex and Censorship told Vice UK. "They're simply a set of moral judgements designed by people who have struggled endlessly to stop the British people from watching pornography."

More worryingly, the amendment seems to take issue with acts from which women more traditionally derive pleasure than men.

"The new legislation is absurd and surreal," Itziar Bilbao Urrutia, a dominatrix who produces porn with a feminist theme added to Vice UK. "I mean, why ban facesitting? What's so dangerous about it? It's a harmless activity that most femdom performers, myself included, do fully dressed anyway. Its power is symbolic: woman on top, unattainable."

In a piece for The Independent, award-winning erotic film director Erika Lust said that she believes "we need to rethink what is offensive or dangerous and what is, in fact, normal human nature, and remember that it’s more important to educate than regulate."

BBFC adds the following 'clarifications' :

the following sexual activities will be deemed either acceptable or unacceptable at R18 classification level:

************

I've got so many problems with this I don't even know where to begin. My rant will have to wait for later anyway.

  • Penetration by any object "associated with violence"

So... no PIV then. #oh snap

And no sex with members of parliament - every time I hear that mob speak I feel like violence was done to my brain...

Ah well, look on the bright side, at least the UK isn't exactly the porn center of the world. You'll still get censored Japanese porn and bad acted Russian porn and plastic women American porn.. plus kink.com but that's at least good. Oh and pkf films which is Canadian I think.

Word is our Prime Minister David Cameron was getting a taxi to Heathrow Airport the other day and the driver asked him where he was going. Cameron replied:

"Today I'm going to Bangkok."

The taxi driver screeched to a halt, threw open the door and yelled.

"It's bad enough you banned fisting and hardcore BDSM porn and waterspouts! If you're planning to ban cock you can fucking WALK to the airport!"

...Seemingly arbitrarily deciding what is nice sex and what is not nice sex, the board has banned the following acts from being depicted by British pornography producers:

  • Spanking

I'd of sworn Spanking was a national heritage in England and protected by HRH...

  • Eating ejaculate
Any form of consumption of (male) ejaculate is acceptable.

If that were banned, I'm sure it would lead to widespread rioting. Nice of them not to cause a public panic.  :catfight:

Ironically, while banning all these acts between consenting adults, the UK Government has done precious little to root out child abuse at the very highest levels of the Establishment. For decades, children were raped and abused by the richest and most powerful men in the land, their crimes covered by the police and security services.

Nice to know our so-called leaders have their priorities straight...

Is there not now a ban on viewing and distributing porn which is viewed as "extreme" (A.K.A contains the above) regardless of which country it comes from?

Additionally Backlash (https://www.backlash.org.uk/) (a website dedicated to defending sexual freedom) lists all the info and it is specifically stated:

Quote
Since early 2015 possession of fictional depictions of rape has also become a criminal offence. This includes images depicting rough sex and fantasy rape scenarios that are enjoyed safely and consensually by countless people throughout the UK.

It makes me wonder, as a UK user, where we stand regarding this website and what we share?

The whole site is probably illegal in Britain... and any image from the photos thread is, too

@Damsel I no longer live in UK and our server is in USA, but it's my understanding that you can TECHNICALLY be prosecuted in UK for mere POSSESSION of 'extreme pornography', which includes depictions of rape. I'm not aware of anyone actually getting prosecuted yet and think challenges to that law will be in the works if it's ever tried, but were I in the UK now, I'd be using In Private browsing and deleting my cache every time I close my browser so rapey pics aren't even stored in the browser.

Quote from: cps.gov.uk
Section 37 of the Criminal Justice and Courts Act 2015 amended the offence of possession of extreme pornographic images in section 63 of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 so that, in England and Wales, the offence can be committed by the possession of extreme pornographic images depicting non-consensual penetration and rape. The amendment made by section 37 of the Criminal Justice and Courts Act 2015 do not apply to possession of an image which occurs before 13 April 2015.

The most ridicolous think is that in uk is illegal to view the rapey photos  on the site (since you have to download them in cache) but apparently you can still wank/slish as much as you want by reading the stories and the role plays  :))

This is interesting, as a certain kink website has just shut down any and all groups dedicated to rape (and any other act under the new laws) purely because of the discussion.

I don't store anything on the PC any more, and clear the cache frequently.

I've heard what happened with that site (FL for those who get it). It's my understanding that they have a commercial portion of their site that helps support its very existence, and their credit card processors abruptly refused to continue processing payments without giving a specific reason, so they began trying to remove anything remotely questionable from the site in order to get back in the favour of those processors. Some believe they were targeted after one of their  popular dominant long-time members was arrested for allegedly raping a sub he met at a hotel.

This site isn't commercial in any way so we don't face the same challenge.

FL seems to have a lot of online enemies, mostly people critical of how they handle the predators in their midst. BDSM and rape fantasy unfortunately attract a lot of people who can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality, including critics. We eject people who are reported to be menaces, but we're also very upfront about the fact that no site can really keep them out. We have much the same policy that FL does -- it is against our rules to try to name and shame people who violate consent using our website. I know we'll eventually get short-sighted accusations that we might be "silencing sexual assault victims", but that's crap. We just live in the real world where judges don't automatically award you reimbursement of attorney's fees when some jackass tries to sue you for libel (trust me, I've been there multiple times). We will do everything in our power to help you go after rapists in real life where they will suffer real consequences and not have the opportunity to get back into our community or anyone else's. We will provide whatever documentation is lawfully subpoenaed towards that end. If someone wants to create a javascript program that houses an off-site predator database of screen names, go for it, but it's pretty useless when such people just change screen names and use proxies to get around filters. I fully understand how hard it is to go after predators, and how unhelpful the law enforcement and legal communities have been, but that's still the only way to really stop predators.

@RayPistonprowl @Ingenue @Red Right Hand Since FL shuttered their rape fantasy section, expect some of those fans to eventually find us. While we welcome people who get the difference between fantasy and reality, expect some predators will no doubt be among them, so be on guard.

Also, Ray, people in UK have been prosecuted under that statute you mentioned, but it never happens in a vacuum. Usually the person has been busted as a sexual predator in some other way, and the thought police decide to confiscate a computer that shows that OMG THEY VIEWED VIOLENT PORNOGRAPHY SO THAT MUST HAVE MADE THEM DO IT. Nope. The subtle difference the thought police miss every time is that impulse control is the culprit, not the porn.
